I’ve been debating with this concept of merging my professional and personal worlds together for quite some time. As a creative, you receive so much advice/opinions on the subject… and both sides have their argument. But I took a step back and asked myself, what is going to work for me and the life I’m living in and creating???
I made the decision to no longer separate my two worlds and here are my reasons why:
- I’m not two different people. I’m a mama, and an entrepreneur, a wifey, and a photographer, a kick-ass buttered noodle maker, and a bad-ass Lightroom editor (I think I am anyway). There’s no one characteristic or skill set that defines me, it’s multiple things that I do on a daily basis that help shape who I am in my professional AND personal worlds.
- I can’t separate two worlds that are already merged together. I wear several hats throughout the day, and sometimes they need to be switched regardless of which one I want to wear. If my baby wakes up early from naptime, then finishing that blog post will just have to wait until later. I need to be able to shift between my worlds. I don’t have a 9-5… I live and work in the same world, where I’m needed to switch hats at a moments notice… and that works for me and there’s no reason to hide or makes it seem otherwise for other people.
- I want people to know the real me. The Cathy that loves Christmas so much she plans her Holiday decor in August. The Cathy that on a wedding day Facetimes her baby when she has a quick break just so she can see her nugget’s face. The Cathy that loves to photographer beautiful couples, at beautiful venues, in beautiful shoes… but can’t wait to come home and spend time with her beautiful (sometimes messy) family).
With that being said, welcome to my new website and blog… cathydurig.com. For the dreamers who dream, the mama’s who mama, and for the people who just enjoy the pretty 🙂 This new site is a culmination of my life, my work, and myself. Enjoy and the explore the world I created and continue to create… I know I do 😉
